What laser marking machine should be used to engrave patterns for silicone materials? Is it better to use an ultraviolet laser marking machine or a carbon dioxide CO2 laser marking machine? A few days ago, a customer sent a watch strap made of silicone material for us to engrave the pattern. Today I will share this process with you.


Silica gel alias: silicic acid gel, which is a highly active adsorption material and is an amorphous substance. The main component of silica gel is silica, which is chemically stable and non-combustible. Its molecular formula is xSiO2·yH2O.


The laser engraving pattern of the silicone strap needs to be clear and deep, and it needs to be realized with a carbon dioxide CO2 laser marking machine.


The video uses 30 watts of power, CO2 radio frequency laser.


The marking speed cannot be too fast or there is no depth. The speed for 30 watts of power is about 600mm/s.


The packing density should not be too dense, otherwise the silica gel will be easily deformed by overheating or scorched by about 0.05.


It is recommended to add an exhaust air to absorb the marking fume to prevent it from adhering to the surface of the material and affecting the aesthetics.


If there are too many lines at the bottom that are not smooth enough, try to change the filling method and increase the frequency appropriately.


The CO2 laser can strike a certain depth on the surface of the silica gel while reducing the natural color of the material.
